Child Information

A few tips for a safe and comfortable vaccine experience for children.

  • Let children know a few days in advance that they will be going in for a vaccine – we recommend not to surprise a child with a shot.

  • All children need to have a parent or guardian present for the vaccination.

  • Bring a fun distraction for your child – a book, puzzle, toy, game, tablet, or phone are all good options for keeping their focus on something other than the vaccination.

  • The pharmacist will work with you and your child to help find a comfortable and safe position – the child can pick which arm they want and whether or not they want to watch the injection. The adult present with the child may be asked to help hold the child on their lap if that would be comforting for the child.
